Man arrested on weapon, drug charges in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, NY — State Police assigned to the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit arrested a man on multiple charges May 5, 2026.

Andrew S. Reid, 40, of Schenectady, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon 2nd, a class C felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, a class A misdemeanor, resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor, obstructing governmental administration 2nd, a class A misdemeanor, and vehicle and traffic law violations.

Troopers stopped a vehicle on Chrisler Avenue in Schenectady at about 9:27 p.m. for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

The driver was identified as Reid.

A loaded, illegally possessed unserialized “ghost” handgun was in plain view inside the vehicle and seized.

While being taken into custody, Reid resisted arrest and attempted to flee on foot.

Controlled substances were located and seized.

Reid was transported to State Police Princetown for processing and then turned over to the Schenectady County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
