TANNERSVILLE, PA — Pocono Township police are searching for a man wanted on felony charges after allegedly fleeing from officers during a traffic stop.
Ameer William Mcrae, 22, of Pennsylvania, is wanted on charges of fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, flight to avoid apprehension and recklessly endangering another person.
On Dec. 24 at approximately 3:43 p.m., an officer attempted to stop an Audi A6 with New Jersey registration because the owner had an active warrant.
The driver fled when the officer approached the vehicle, leading to a pursuit.
The officer pursued the vehicle onto Route 715 before losing sight of it.
Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of Northampton Community College, and the pursuit continued onto Interstate 80 east.
Officers terminated the pursuit due to high speeds and losing sight of the vehicle a second time.
Through cell phone records, officers determined Mcrae was in the area at the time of the pursuit and found reservation information for him at a local hotel.
An arrest warrant was issued May 7.
