PARKESBURG, PA — Police have arrested a man on charges of rape, indecent sexual assault, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and related offenses.
Richard Javier Vasquez-Lopez, 23, of Pennsylvania, was taken into custody May 6 in Wilmington, Delaware, following a multi-agency investigation.
The Parkesburg Borough Police Department initiated the investigation in mid-April and obtained an arrest warrant for Vasquez-Lopez on April 29.
Over several days, Parkesburg police worked with county, state and federal law enforcement partners to locate the suspect.
Surveillance officers located Vasquez-Lopez in a parking lot in Wilmington shortly after 8 a.m. May 6.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Parkesburg police were assisted by a member of the Chester County Detectives Drug and Organized Crime Unit and several federal law enforcement officers.
Vasquez-Lopez was later arraigned before Judge Leiberman.
Cash bail was set at $1,000,000.
He was transported to the Chester County Prison pending a preliminary hearing at District Court 15-3-07.
