ROCHESTER, NY — Two police officers were injured when a stolen vehicle fleeing from authorities crashed into their patrol car at the intersection of Mt. Read Boulevard and Lexington Avenue on May 3.
Officers from the Greece Police Department responded to a License Plate Reader alert for a stolen blue 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser at approximately 8:40 p.m. at Stone Ridge Plaza on West Ridge Road.
The driver fled when officers attempted a traffic stop, leading police on a pursuit into the City of Rochester.
The suspect vehicle was involved in a minor crash near Driving Park Avenue and Lake Avenue with no injuries reported before continuing toward Mt. Read Boulevard.
Officers attempted to deploy spike strips at the intersection of Lexington Avenue as the suspect traveled southbound on Mt. Read Boulevard.
The suspect ran a red light and was struck by another vehicle traveling westbound on Lexington Avenue.
Following that collision, the suspect vehicle struck a marked patrol car.
Two officers positioned near the patrol vehicle were struck in the crash and transported to Rochester General Hospital.
A five-year veteran was discharged after treatment for a head injury.
A second officer with two years of service remains hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to undergo surgery for a leg injury.
The 31-year-old driver of the other vehicle was treated and released after reporting neck, back and foot pain.
An infant in her vehicle was transported and evaluated but was not injured.
The suspect, Sean Tracy Sr., 56, of Rochester, was taken into custody and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Tracy was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the second degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, reckless driving and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was booked at police headquarters and transported to the county jail for arraignment.
Tracy is currently on parole for a burglary conviction from May 10, 2023.
He was released on parole April 2 after serving a 2 to 6 year sentence.
Tracy has 63 prior arrests and 33 convictions, including three felonies and 30 misdemeanors.
The Greece Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident.
