GUILFORD, NY — A Guilford man was arrested April 28, 2026, in connection with the theft of an electrical transformer from a job site on State Highway 8.
Luman C. Craver, 39, of Guilford, was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, criminal mischief in the second degree and conspiracy in the fifth degree.
The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint April 22, 2026, that a transformer had been stolen from a job site where it had been delivered and was awaiting installation.

Investigators said Craver dismantled the transformer in an attempt to sell it as scrap metal.
Portions of the transformer were transported to Otsego County and discarded, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Craver was taken into custody without incident and arraigned in Chenango County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
He was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in Town of Guilford Court at a later date.
