WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Police arrested a man accused of pepper-spraying a customer inside a Dunkin’ on Saturday evening.
Windsor Locks Police Department responded to a disturbance at the Dunkin’ located at 94 Main St. at approximately 7:46 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers observed a large gathering of employees and patrons outside the business, many suffering from the respiratory effects of pepper spray.
The investigation revealed that a verbal altercation had occurred between two customers, during which Hayden St. Martin, 20, of Windsor Locks, deployed O.C. spray against another male patron as he was attempting to exit the store.
Witness statements and store surveillance footage confirmed that while there had been a prior disagreement regarding a parking issue between staff and a couple, that matter had been resolved.
According to reports, St. Martin intervened as the couple was leaving, spraying the victim on the left side of his face.
The victim was later located at a neighboring Subway, where he was treated by EMS for coughing and facial irritation.
The Windsor Locks Fire Department was called to the scene to ventilate the business before reentry.
St. Martin, who was found in possession of the O.C. spray and two pocket knives, was taken into custody without incident.
He has been charged with Assault in the Third Degree and Breach of Peace.
Following his processing at Windsor Locks Police Department booking, he was released on a non-surety bond.
