Police respond to swatting call in Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, PA — Officers responded to a false report of a shooting at a residence in the 2600 block of W. 4th St on May 2, 2026, at approximately 2:54 p.m.

Police were dispatched after a third party reported someone had been shot inside the home and the gunman was still on scene.

Officers made entry into the residence due to the emergency nature of the call.

Four individuals were found inside the home.

Police quickly determined there was no shooting victim and all residents were safe.

An investigation revealed the call to the Lycoming County Communications Center originated from outside the area.

The incident has been classified as a swatting call.
