FALL RIVER, MA — A man was arrested on multiple firearm and drug charges Thursday after attempting to flee from police at a barbershop on Rodman Street.
Members of the C.A.S.T. Unit were on patrol when they observed Elijah Jones, 30, of Fall River, enter the barbershop.
Detectives were aware that Jones had an active warrant for his arrest.
Detectives entered the business and observed Jones seated in a barber chair.
After confirming the active warrant, detectives approached him, informed him of the warrant, and placed him into custody.
After being handcuffed, Jones attempted to flee on foot, running out of the business into the waiting arms of detectives outside.
He was quickly apprehended without further incident.
A search of Jones resulted in the recovery of a loaded SCCY Industries CPX-2 9mm firearm.
A small amount of suspected cocaine concealed within a folded dollar bill was also located.
Jones does not possess a valid license to carry a firearm.
A subsequent check of the firearm revealed it had been reported stolen out of Georgia.
Jones was transported to the Fall River Police Department, where he was processed and charged with firearm, carry without license (loaded), 2nd offense; firearm violation with one prior violent/drug crime; firearm, carry without license, 2nd offense; firearm, possess large capacity; resisting arrest; possession of a Class B substance; and receiving stolen property under $1,200.
