BOSTON, MA — A Roslindale man was arrested Wednesday on fentanyl trafficking and distribution charges following a month-long investigation.

Officers assigned to the District C-6 South Boston Drug Control Unit, with assistance from the D-14 Brighton/Allston Drug Control Unit and detectives assigned to the DEA Fugitive Investigation Task Group, arrested Clevan Richards, 46, of Roslindale, on April 23.

Investigators determined that Richards was dealing fentanyl, crack cocaine, and cocaine in the areas of Nubian Square, Grove Hall, and Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard.

Officers executed court-authorized search warrants for Richards’ person, his residence, and his motor vehicle.

Officers conducted surveillance and initiated a traffic stop on Richards as he departed his residence.

Following the stop, investigators transported Richards to District E-18 and conducted a search of his person.

Officers recovered 19 grams of fentanyl, 9 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of cocaine, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.

A search of Richards’ residence did not yield additional drugs, though officers located materials consistent with drug packaging and distribution.

Richards is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on charges of fentanyl trafficking, possession with intent to distribute Class A, possession with intent to distribute Class B, possession with intent to distribute Class B subsequent offense, and habitual criminal penalty enhancement.
