Man stabbed in Bethel

BETHEL, CT — A 69-year-old man was stabbed at least twice Thursday morning on Greenwood Avenue, police said.

Bethel police officers were dispatched to 208 Greenwood Ave. at approximately 9:30 a.m. for a report of a stabbing.

The victim was stabbed at least twice, once in the upper back and once in the wrist, police said.

First arriving officers were on scene within seconds and immediately administered aid to the victim.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses told responding officers that the suspect had a duffle bag and was walking across the street toward 211 Greenwood Ave., a busy shopping plaza.

Additional officers pursued the suspect across the street to Dolan’s Plaza at 211 Greenwood Ave., where they located him.

The suspect was identified as Sean S. Vota, 39, of Northport, New York, according to his driver’s license.

Vota was taken into custody without incident.

Vota is in police custody and charges are pending.

An off-duty Stamford police officer followed the suspect while relaying critical information to dispatchers and on-scene police officers, police said.
