BATH, NY — A 46-year-old man faces a felony charge after police say he was operating a stolen four-wheeler during a traffic stop last month.
Marvin J. Brotzman, of Bath, was initially stopped by Village of Bath Police Department officers on March 29, 2026, at approximately 4:48 p.m. after they observed him operating a four-wheeler in the area of Wilson Avenue in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the four-wheeler fled, leading police on a brief pursuit.
The four-wheeler stopped on railroad tracks just outside the village, where officers identified the operator as Brotzman.
Brotzman was taken into custody, issued several uniform traffic tickets for violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, and released.
The four-wheeler was towed due to the violations.
On April 16, 2026, police determined the four-wheeler Brotzman had been operating was reported stolen from a seasonal property in the Town of Wheeler on April 12, 2026.
Brotzman was located and taken into custody on April 21, 2026.
He is charged with one count of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a Class E felony.
Brotzman was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment part, where he remains held.
