BOSTON, MA — A 37-year-old man was arrested early Sunday in connection with two burglaries in the North End following a multi-day investigation by District A-1 detectives.

David Loughran was taken into custody at approximately 12:35 a.m. Sunday in the vestibule of 185 Fulton Street by officers on directed patrol.

The arrest followed two burglaries that occurred early Thursday morning.

At approximately 4:40 a.m. on April 23, officers responded to a report of a suspicious person inside a residential building on Prince Street.

A resident on the upper floor reported being alerted by her dog and a Ring camera notification showing a male moving through the hallway carrying a large bag.

Officers reviewed the footage and noted the suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap, dark pants, and a backpack.

Several pairs of sneakers and a building spare key were reported stolen.

There were no signs of forced entry.

Approximately 45 minutes later, at around 5:25 a.m., the same suspect forced entry into La Summa restaurant at 30 Fleet Street by manipulating the rear door locking mechanism.

Employees arriving for work later that morning discovered the cash register drawer had been moved, a safe had been opened, and personal items were missing from a coat area.

Stolen from the restaurant were an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, three blank company checks, two prepaid gift certificates, a backpack, and other personal items belonging to staff.

Detectives identified Loughran as the suspect through a review of surveillance footage from both locations and coordination with partner agencies.

Arrest warrants were obtained from Boston Municipal Court on April 25.

A search of Loughran’s backpack at the time of his arrest yielded multiple controlled substances, an unsheathed kitchen knife, and a digital scale.

Loughran was transported to Nashua Street Jail for booking.

He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of unarmed burglary, two counts of larceny from a building, breaking and entering a building nighttime for felony, trespassing, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of Class A controlled substance, possession of Class B controlled substance, and three counts of possession of Class E controlled substance, subsequent offense.
