RHINEBECK, NY — A 68-year-old woman was struck and killed by an Amtrak train at the Rhinecliff Train Station on April 25 at approximately 7:46 a.m., according to New York State Police.
Troopers responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a train at the station, located on Rhinecliff Road in the town of Rhinebeck.
A preliminary investigation determined the woman stepped onto the train tracks prior to being struck.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
