ALBANY, NY — A 7-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle Friday evening at the intersection of Quail Street and Elk Street.

Officers responded to the area around 7 p.m. for reports of a juvenile struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had already been transported by a neighbor to Albany Memorial Hospital.

The boy was later transferred to Albany Medical Center Hospital and is being treated for a fractured clavicle and non-life threatening internal injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and has been cooperative with the investigation.

Police have preliminarily determined that the driver was traveling south on Quail Street approaching Elk Street when another vehicle traveling west on Elk Street approached the intersection and stopped, partially blocking it.

As the driver continued south on Quail Street, the victim ran west within the southern crosswalk of Quail Street and was struck.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
