STILLWATER, NY — A vehicle stop for an improper turn signal and tinted tail lamps Tuesday at 12:11 p.m. at the Stewart’s on state Route 9P and County Route 76 led to the arrest of Evan D. Giroux, 40, of Schaghticoke.

Giroux is accused of possessing two hand grenades discovered in his vehicle after a Sheriff’s K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics and a consent search.

He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, class D felonies.

Giroux was also cited for an improper turn signal and tinted tail lamps, both infractions.

The Stewart’s shop was evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

The devices were turned over to the New York State Police Bomb Disposal Unit.

Giroux is currently being held pending arraignment in the Stillwater Town Court.

The investigation is ongoing.
