MOUNT CARMEL, PA — Two men were taken into custody July 14 after a building inspection led to immigration enforcement.
Officers assisted the Mount Carmel Borough Code Enforcement Office with a building inspection at 15 West Avenue at 9:30 a.m.
Records checks flagged the immigration status of both workers.
After consultation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement partners, it was determined that both men were unlawfully present in the United States.
Carlos Arizala Duchimaza, 36, and Severiano J. Cajas Guevara, 45, were taken into custody under the department’s 287(g) authority.
Both were transferred to ICE custody.
