HARPSWELL, ME — The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a structure fire that occurred Sunday at about 1 a.m.
The Harpswell Neck Fire Department responded to a reported fire at a home.
Firefighters found flames visible beneath the residence and extinguished the fire, preventing further damage.
The fire has been determined to be accidental and was most likely caused by the failure of heat tape wrapped around the home’s water line.
Two adults, two children and two dogs were displaced as a result of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
