Scam alert issued in Orford

1 min read

ORFORD, NH — Police are warning residents about a text message scam impersonating New Hampshire courts.

The fraudulent texts claim recipients missed a court date or owe a fine.

The messages often direct users to click a link or scan a QR code to make a payment.

The New Hampshire Judicial Branch does not send text messages with QR codes, notices of missed dates, or requests for fine payments.

Authorities advise anyone receiving such a message not to click any links, scan any QR codes, or provide personal or financial information.

Recipients should delete the message immediately.
