Driver cited for negligent operation, excessive speed in Westminster

WESTMINSTER, VT — A 19-year-old driver was cited after being stopped for traveling 108 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 91.

Jason S. Hamel, of Charlestown, New Hampshire, was stopped by the Windham County Sheriff’s Office on July 7 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The incident occurred near mile marker 29.6 in Westminster.

Hamel was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and excessive speed.

He was released from the scene on a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Aug. 25.

He also received a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.
