Driver cited for excessive speed in Berlin

BERLIN, VT — A trooper with Vermont State Police cited a motorist for excessive speed on Interstate 89 North on July 4, 2026.

A trooper monitoring traffic near mile marker 50.8 observed a vehicle traveling in excess of the speed limit at 3:43 p.m.

Radar confirmed the vehicle’s speed at 111 mph.

The trooper stopped the vehicle and identified the operator as Chelbert Edmond, 41, of St. Albans.

Edmond was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Washington Criminal Division on July 23, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charge of excessive speed.

Edmond was also issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint carrying a waiver amount of $682 and 2 points.
