SEARSMONT, ME — A lumber company owner has died from injuries sustained in an explosion and fire at his business in May.
Alden J. Robbins died on July 2, 2026, from injuries sustained in the May 15, 2026, explosion and fire at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont, according to a statement from the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The Robbins family announced his death in a statement released by the department.
“Alden was the heart of our family in so many ways, and nothing mattered more to him than the people he loved,” the family said in the statement.
Robbins was described as a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
He fought with extraordinary courage and determination following the accident, according to the family.
Robbins passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, the family said.
He received care at Maine Medical Center in Portland and at the Sumner Redstone Burn Center at Massachusetts General Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family has requested privacy.
