NORTH BRANFORD, CT — A North Branford man has been arrested following an investigation into a structure fire that occurred last month.
The North Branford Police Department and North Branford Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 21 David Lane in Northford at approximately 1:58 a.m. on June 5.
Initial 911 callers and responding officers reported hearing multiple explosions, which were believed to have been caused by propane tanks located on the property.
An investigation was conducted by the North Branford Police Department, Officer Michael Torre, who is certified by the State of Connecticut as a Fire Investigator, the North Branford Fire Marshal’s Office and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
On July 2, the North Branford Police Department received a signed arrest warrant, authorized through the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office, for Robert Onofrio, 57, of North Branford.
Onofrio voluntarily surrendered at the North Branford Police Department and was charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree.
Onofrio is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in New Haven on July 9 at 10 a.m.
