MASSENA, NY — New York State Police arrested a 48-year-old man on strangulation and assault charges following a physical altercation at a marina.
Corey D. LaPlant, of Brushton, was arrested June 30, 2026, and charged with Strangulation in the Second Degree and Assault in the Third Degree.
State Police responded to Beach Marina in the town of Massena at approximately 8:31 p.m. June 29, 2026, for a report of a physical altercation.
An investigation determined that LaPlant became irate and repeatedly struck the victim in the face.
During the altercation, LaPlant also placed the victim in a rear chokehold, restricting the victim’s breathing.
LaPlant fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Following the investigation, he was located, arrested, and processed at State Police Massena.
LaPlant was arraigned in the Town of Massena Court and released under the supervision of probation.
