Tornado confirmed in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, NY — The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in the town following severe weather Thursday.

The tornado damage path was identified along County Highway 49 near Ketchum Road, according to the Otsego County Office of Emergency Services.

Survey teams worked with county emergency services officials Friday and also identified tornadic indicators in the town of Laurens along Crawford Road near County Highway 10.

Damage assessments remain ongoing.

Preliminary assessments indicate several homes and other structures sustained significant damage, with four structures considered a total loss and six residents displaced.

No injuries were reported during the weather event.

Emergency response and recovery operations remain active in the affected areas.

The Otsego County Office of Emergency Services is working alongside several state and local agencies on cleanup and recovery efforts.

A local state of emergency remains in effect for the towns of Pittsfield and Laurens, along with emergency orders that prohibit unnecessary travel.
