PLATTSBURGH, NY — New York State Police arrested a Morrisonville man on assault and other charges following a domestic dispute.
Matthew K. Schwartz, 41, of Morrisonville, was charged with assault in the third degree, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.
Troopers responded to Chantecler Court in the town of Plattsburgh at approximately 12:57 p.m. on June 26, 2026, for a report of a physical domestic dispute.
An investigation determined that Schwartz and the victim were inside the residence when Schwartz became upset and allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the head, causing a laceration.
The victim was able to leave the residence and contact law enforcement.
While troopers were attempting to investigate the incident, Schwartz became uncooperative and actively resisted arrest by pushing troopers.
After Schwartz failed to comply with lawful commands, troopers displayed their division issued taser and gave Schwartz more commands, which he started to comply with.
Schwartz was transported to State Police Plattsburgh by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
He was arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court and was released.
The New York State Police were assisted by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
