BERLIN, MA — Police are investigating an assault and possible shots fired incident at Highland Commons parking lot.
The Berlin Police Department responded to a report of an assault in progress in the northwest area of the Highland Commons parking lot at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers were updated while enroute to the scene of possible shots fired.
The Berlin Police Department is working in coordination with the Massachusetts State Police to process the crime scene and investigate the incident.
Access to the area of Highland Commons remains closed.
Police said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The public is asked to avoid the area while officers continue to process evidence and conduct the investigation.
