ARLINGTON, MA — The Arlington Police Department is warning residents about scam calls appearing to come from the department’s non-emergency phone number.

Police said they have received numerous reports from residents about calls from scammers spoofing the department’s number, 781-643-1212, to obtain personal and financial information.

The department said it will never call residents to demand payment for unpaid fines, tickets, warrants or any other obligation over the phone.

Police are advising residents who receive suspicious calls to hang up immediately and not provide personal information, banking details, credit card information or payment information.

Residents are also being warned not to send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency or electronic payments.

The department is asking residents to share the information with family, friends and neighbors.
