SPRINGFIELD, MA — Four juvenile males were arrested in connection with an armed robbery and stolen vehicle incident June 24.
Springfield Police officers responded to the 0-100 block of Adams Street around 5:30 p.m. for a ShotSpotter activation but did not immediately locate evidence.
Officers then received information that an individual inside a vehicle pointed a gun at a child.
Members of the Springfield Police Real-Time Analysis Center located the suspect vehicle on Belmont Avenue, which had been reported stolen from Springfield earlier in the day.
Around 5:40 p.m., officers were informed that an armed robbery involving the suspects occurred at a bus stop at the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Keith Street.
Officers located the suspect vehicle on Dresden Street and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver sped away driving recklessly and struck a police cruiser.
Less than four minutes later, the vehicle stopped on the 100 block of Wilbraham Avenue and four males exited and began to run away.
Officers located and arrested all four suspects.
Three suspects, ages 15, 16 and 17, were arrested on the 100 block of Wilbraham Avenue.
A 16-year-old male was arrested on the 100 block of Massachusetts Avenue.
Officers recovered a Glock BB gun inside one of the teenager’s cross body bags.
One of the suspects also had a default warrant in connection with a previous larceny of a motor vehicle charge.
