BOSTON, NY — Sheriff’s deputies and first responders rescued an unresponsive man in Boston Forest County Park following an extensive search that spanned nearly 19 hours.
A 911 caller reported an unattended vehicle had been parked in the park for several hours at 8:04 p.m. on June 22.
Patrol deputies attempted to contact the registered owner of the vehicle but were unsuccessful.
Additional units were brought into the park to search for the man.
The search was suspended at 1:10 a.m. on June 23 due to dark conditions.
The search resumed later that morning during daylight hours.
Deputies located the man at 3:02 p.m. approximately 250 feet off a trail.
The man was unresponsive with shallow breathing and in obvious need of immediate medical attention.
Deputies performed basic lifesaving measures, which included wrapping the man in a space blanket and administering oxygen, until EMS arrived.
He was transported to Mercy Hospital of South Buffalo for treatment.
Erie County Sheriff’s Office units involved in the search included Road Patrol, SWAT, Aviation Unit, ATV Unit and the Detective Bureau.
Additional agencies participating included Erie County Forest Rangers, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New York State Police, Boston EMS, Erie County EMS and the Niagara Frontier Search and Rescue Team.
