Man arrested on multiple charges in Rutland Town

RUTLAND TOWN, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a local man on multiple charges over a three-day period last week.

Dennis McLaughlin, 45, of Rutland Town, was first taken into custody on June 21, 2026, after troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to a report of a violation of an abuse prevention order at approximately 3:16 p.m.

Troopers identified McLaughlin as the person of interest and later located him in Castleton.

When located, McLaughlin was determined to have been trespassing inside an occupied dwelling in Castleton and was charged with that offense in addition to violation of an abuse prevention order.

McLaughlin was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rutland Barracks for fingerprints and photographs.

He was then lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility on $20,000 bail.

On June 22, 2026, troopers received information that McLaughlin was in violation of his court-ordered conditions of release.

It was determined that McLaughlin had a court order requiring him to remain at an address where he was unable to remain 24 hours a day.

McLaughlin was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rutland Barracks for fingerprints and photographs.

He was then lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.

On June 23, 2026, troopers responded to a report of a conditions of release violation in Rutland Town.

It was determined that McLaughlin had contacted a party he had been ordered not to contact in violation of his court-ordered conditions of release.

McLaughlin was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rutland Barracks for fingerprints and photographs.

He was then lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.
