LYNDONVILLE, VT — A Walden woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs with a child in her vehicle May 8.

Brittany Patten, 31, was stopped by police on Broad Street after a concerned citizen reported that an impaired woman was about to drive away with a child, according to the Lyndonville Police Department.

A patrol officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at 5:44 p.m.

Patten displayed signs of impairment by a substance other than alcohol, police said.

A minor child was found in the vehicle inside a car seat.

Following an investigation, Patten was arrested on suspicion of DUI-drugs and cruelty to a child.

A drug influence evaluation was conducted.

Patten initially refused to provide an evidentiary blood sample, which was then obtained pursuant to a court-ordered search warrant with assistance from Lyndon Rescue, police said.

Patten and the child were released to sober parties.

Patten was cited into Caledonia Superior Court with an arraignment scheduled for Aug. 24 at 8:30 a.m.
