Man arrested on terroristic threats charge in Palmer Township

PALMER TOWNSHIP, PA — Police arrested a 37-year-old man after he allegedly threatened to shoot another man over a debt.

Palmer Township Police were dispatched to a residence on the 1000 block of South 25th Street at approximately 10:29 a.m. Friday for a report of a male threatening to shoot another male.

Upon arrival, the suspect fled the scene in a maroon Hyundai sedan with a Pennsylvania registration.

Police identified the suspect as Stephen Michael Coppo of Pennsylvania.

According to the investigation, Coppo threatened to shoot the victim with his .38 in the back of the head and blow his brains out if he didn’t get his money owed to him.

The investigating officer obtained an arrest warrant for Coppo.

With assistance from the Nazareth Police Department, officers located Coppo at a residence in Nazareth and took him into custody without incident.

Coppo was transported to the Palmer Township Police Department for processing.

He was arraigned by Magisterial District Justice Knisley and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $25,000 bail.

Coppo is charged with terroristic threats and harassment.
