KENDUSKEAG, ME — The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office managed two separate firearm-related incidents on June 17, 2026.

At approximately 8:40 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office began executing a protection order removal, which included the recovery of multiple firearms.

At approximately 9 a.m., the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a report about a suicidal individual threatening to harm themselves with a firearm.

Both incidents occurred in Kenduskeag but were not connected.

Deputies, with assistance from the Penobscot Regional Communications Center, ensured that a perimeter was established and that neighbors were removed from harm’s way.

Within a short period of time, Sheriff’s Office negotiators were able to convince the suicidal individual to peacefully surrender.

The individual was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, and an Extreme Risk Protection Order “yellow flag” process was completed.

Sheriff’s deputies completed the original protection order, which was also resolved without incident.

No criminal charges are anticipated in the incidents.
