TAYLOR, PA — A Lackawanna County jury has convicted a man on all charges for firing a 9mm handgun toward a group of people in a Walmart parking lot.

Mark Langevine was found guilty on 12 counts, including aggravated assault, following a two-day trial before Judge Michael J. Barrasse, Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher announced Thursday.

The incident occurred on April 11, 2025, when Langevine discharged a firearm in the direction of multiple individuals during a confrontation in the parking lot.

Evidence presented at trial established that Langevine’s actions created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to bystanders in the busy retail parking lot.

“Gun violence has no place in Lackawanna County,” Gallagher said.

“When someone chooses to fire a handgun into a group of people, they are making a conscious decision to put innocent lives at risk.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys David Sofanelli and Danielle Guari.

Gallagher said many of the victims became uncooperative prior to trial.

“I am so appreciative of the trial team not backing down,” Gallagher said.

The Taylor Borough Police Department led the investigation.

Langevine faces a maximum possible sentence of 31 years of incarceration.

Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
