BETHLEHEM, PA — A 53-year-old man was arrested June 10 after allegedly attempting to open a fraudulent bank account using someone else’s identification.
Police responded to Embassy Bank at 3495 Route 378 at approximately 2:40 p.m. following a report of a male attempting to open a fraudulent account.
Officers found the suspect still on scene and took him into custody.
During the investigation, the individual provided false identification to police.
After being transported to police headquarters, he was interviewed and eventually provided his real name, admitting to attempting to open the account using someone else’s identification, according to police.
The suspect told police he was to be paid $1,000 by an unknown individual for his assistance in opening the account.
Nathaniel Coles, of Pennsylvania, was arraigned on charges of access device fraud, theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking, and false identification to law enforcement.
He was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.
