NEW HARTFORD, NY — A Utica woman faces multiple charges after crashing her vehicle and fleeing the scene on June 16, 2026.

New Hartford Police responded to a reported motor vehicle crash on Seneca Turnpike at Commercial Drive at 6:20 a.m.

Reports indicated that a vehicle traveling westbound on Seneca Turnpike exited the travel lane and drove over a curb and onto the median between the roads, colliding with street signs.

Responding officers found the operator had left the vehicle.

Witnesses who stopped and assisted police reported that the operator exited the vehicle and fled on foot, running down the middle of the road along Seneca Turnpike.

Officers located the operator and continued the investigation into the crash.

During the investigation, officers detected signs of impairment and began to administer standardized field sobriety tests.

The operator, identified as Amy Antonuk, 42, of Utica, became uncooperative during the field tests.

Antonuk then attempted to flee from police and became physically combative when officers began to handcuff her.

Antonuk was taken into custody and transported to the New Hartford Police Department.

She was charged with moving from lane unsafely, unreasonable speed, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a property damage motor vehicle accident and obstructing governmental administration, a Class A misdemeanor.

Antonuk was processed and released after being issued multiple vehicle and traffic law tickets and an appearance ticket for obstructing governmental administration.

Additional information obtained during the investigation indicates Antonuk was involved in a prior collision on Genesee Street in the Village of New Hartford where the vehicle may have left the travel lane and traveled across a lawn before continuing on and becoming involved in the collision on Seneca Turnpike at Commercial Drive.

No injuries were reported.
