WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Sicklerville man was arrested and charged following a shooting Friday, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Winslow Township Police Chief Donald Lemons.
Jermine Jones, 33, was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree aggravated assault.
On June 12, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers from the Winslow Township Police Department responded to the 500 block of Chews Landing Road in Sicklerville for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a 33-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.
The victim, who was also from Sicklerville and acquainted with Jones, was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in critical condition.
Detectives arrived and discovered two crime scenes, indicating there had been more than one person shot.
Shortly thereafter, detectives learned that another man — later identified as Jones — had been transported to a hospital in Philadelphia for a gunshot wound.
Detectives ultimately recovered a .45 caliber handgun at the scene where Jones was shot.
During the investigation, detectives determined Jones was the individual responsible for shooting the victim.
The circumstances surrounding how Jones sustained a gunshot wound remain under investigation.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
Jones was taken into custody at the hospital in Philadelphia.
He will continue to be held in Pennsylvania, pending extradition to New Jersey.
