WARWICK, RI — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision on Jefferson Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers from the Warwick Police Department responded to the area of 487 Jefferson Boulevard at approximately 4:47 p.m. for a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV.
The Warwick Police Accident Reconstruction Team determined that a gray 2018 Toyota RAV4, operated by a 31-year-old woman, was exiting 487 Jefferson Boulevard and attempting to make a left turn onto Jefferson Boulevard northbound when it crossed into the path of a red 2022 Ducati motorcycle traveling in the second southbound lane.
The motorcycle operator, a 66-year-old man, struck the front of the SUV and sustained multiple injuries.
He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
The operator of the SUV remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The crash remains under investigation.
Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors.
