WAPPINGER, NY — A traffic stop on Myers Corners Road ended with felony charges after a rear-end collision on June 8, 2026.
New York State Police conducted the stop at approximately 6:40 a.m. on a vehicle traveling eastbound for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
Prior to stopping, the vehicle rear-ended another uninvolved vehicle.
The operator, identified as Scott K. Deines, 57, of Wappinger Falls, exhibited signs of intoxication.
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, which he failed.
Deines was taken into custody and transported to State Police barracks in Wappinger for processing.
He provided a breath sample that resulted in a blood alcohol concentration of 0.28 percent.
Deines was charged with aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or more and a prior conviction within 10 years, an E felony.
He was also charged with DWI with a previous conviction of a designated offense within 10 years, an E felony.
Deines received multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Wappinger Court on July 7, 2026, at 5 p.m.
