Man arrested in drug raid at Bridgeport smoke shop

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Police seized more than 23 pounds of cannabis and THC products that tested positive for fentanyl during a raid at a smoke shop Friday.

The Bridgeport Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Division, along with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection – Drug Control Division, the Bridgeport Fire Inspectors Office, and the Bridgeport Health & Building Departments, executed a search and seizure warrant at Dice Convenience Smoke Shop at 4016 Main Street on May 29, 2026.

Officers seized approximately 23.24 pounds of cannabis and THC related products during the operation.

Police also seized $654 in U.S. currency believed to be proceeds from illegal sales.

The prepackaged cannabis products later tested positive for the presence of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid up to 100 times stronger than morphine that is a major cause of overdoses.

Amin Mohamed Algahiem, 24, of California, was arrested at the scene.

He was charged with conspiracy to commit operation of drug factory, conspiracy to commit possession with intent 1 kilogram or more cannabis, possession of controlled substance first offense, possession of cannabis plant less than 50 ounces, and conspiracy to commit sale of narcotic substance.

His bond was set at $50,000.

The Bridgeport Health and Buildings Departments issued stop work orders for onsite violations.
