Teaching assistant charged with endangering welfare of children in Fulton

FULTON, NY — A former teaching assistant faces three counts of endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly showing sexually explicit text messages to students at a junior high school.

Katelynn Hanson, 38, of Fulton, was arrested following an investigation that began April 27, 2026, when a student at Fulton Junior High School reported inappropriate conduct to school staff.

Police said Hanson displayed a sexually explicit and inappropriate text message on her cellular phone to three students during school hours.

Investigators conducted interviews with multiple students, several of whom witnessed the incident, according to the Fulton Police Department.

Hanson is no longer employed by the Fulton City School District.

She is scheduled to appear in Fulton City Court on June 18, 2026.
