NEWBURY, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a man on multiple warrants after responding to a burglary report on June 9, 2026.
Troopers were dispatched to a residence on U.S. Route 302 at approximately 7:05 a.m. following a report of a burglary.
After making initial contact with several parties at the scene, troopers observed Jefferey Emerson, 35, a transient, run from a neighboring residence.
Emerson was known to have three active warrants for his arrest.
Troopers pursued Emerson on foot and quickly apprehended him without injury.
Emerson also threatened one of the parties at the scene.
He was transported to the Vermont State Police Bradford Outpost for processing.
Emerson was transported to the Orange County Criminal Court in Chelsea and arraigned at 1 p.m.
He was subsequently lodged at the North East Correctional Complex in St. Johnsbury.
Emerson faces charges of resisting arrest and criminal threatening in addition to the three warrants.
