Woman arrested on assault charge in Southport

SOUTHPORT, NY — A woman was arrested after allegedly striking someone with a vehicle during an argument.

Krischele C. Brooks, 29, of Elmira, was charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and reckless endangerment in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Deputies from the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol were dispatched to an address in the Town of Southport for a disturbance at approximately 10:54 a.m. on June 3, 2026.

Upon interviewing witnesses, deputies learned that Brooks used a motor vehicle to strike a person during the course of an argument.

The victim sustained injuries and received medical treatment at a local hospital.

The Criminal Investigation Division assisted in the remainder of the investigation.

Brooks was arraigned in the City of Elmira Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail.
