Man arrested on drug charges in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, VT — A 40-year-old man was arrested on multiple drug and weapons charges following a search warrant execution on June 5.

John Congdon, of Springfield, was taken into custody without incident at 26 Litchfield Street after a monthlong investigation into the use and sale of narcotics, according to the Springfield Police Department.

The search warrant was executed by the Springfield Police Department along with the Vermont State Police, Weathersfield Police Department, Chester Police Department and Hartford Police Department.

Suspected heroin, cocaine and firearms were located in the residence during the search, police said.

Congdon, the homeowner, was charged with narcotics sales, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, knowingly permitting the sale of regulated drugs in a dwelling and carrying a deadly weapon while committing a felony.

He was issued a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Aug. 11 at 8 a.m.
