GATES, NY — The Gates Police Department is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found near Lee Road and the Erie Canal on Tuesday evening.
Police responded to the area at approximately 7:30 p.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive individual.
The caller reported the person was unconscious and not breathing.
Officers located a deceased adult female upon arrival.
Police are treating the circumstances surrounding the incident as suspicious.
An active investigation is underway.
