OWEGO, NY — A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with an SUV at the intersection of State Route 434 and Forest Hill Road on June 3, 2026.
New York State Police at Owego were dispatched to the crash at approximately 3:52 a.m. by the Tioga County 911 Center.
Troopers observed a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV upon arrival.
Troopers and emergency medical personnel immediately initiated life-saving measures but were unsuccessful.
The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV was on Forest Hill Road and entered the intersection at State Route 434.
The operator of the SUV did not observe the motorcycle traveling on State Route 434, resulting in the motorcycle striking the side of the SUV.
The operator of the SUV is cooperating with members of the New York State Police and was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for evaluation and treatment.
The identity of the motorcyclist will be released once notifications are made to next of kin.
State Route 434 was closed in both directions during the investigation, with a detour set in place onto Marshland Road.
The roadway has since reopened.
