RED HOOK, NY — Two people were injured Tuesday when a vehicle rolled over following a collision on South Broadway.
Red Hook Police patrols were dispatched at 1:43 p.m. for a two-car crash with a rollover on South Broadway in front of the Dunkin Donuts.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 2021 Toyota being operated by a 26-year-old Highland woman attempted to enter South Broadway from the Dunkin Donuts entrance.
As she entered South Broadway, she failed to yield to a 2002 Toyota traveling southbound on South Broadway being operated by a 21-year-old Red Hook woman.
The collision caused the 2021 Toyota to roll over.
The 26-year-old driver and her 26-year-old female passenger were both entrapped inside the rolled over vehicle and had to be extricated.
Both occupants suffered minor injuries and were transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital for treatment.
The 21-year-old driver did not suffer injury and was evaluated on scene and released.
The 26-year-old driver was issued a traffic ticket for failing to yield the right of way when entering a roadway.
Route 9 was shut down for nearly one hour while responders worked the scene.
Red Hook Police were assisted on scene by the Red Hook and Tivoli Fire Companies, Empress EMS and New York State Police.
