Police seek help identifying e-bike theft suspect in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who stole an electric bike from a residence on May 18, 2026.

The victim parked his black and red Ride Star e-bike on the side of his house on Norwood Street between South Orange Avenue and Abinger Place at approximately 7:30 a.m.

When he returned 15 minutes later, the bike was gone.

Surveillance video shows the suspect took the bike after exiting a gold Chevrolet Equinox driven by an unidentified male.

The suspect and the driver fled southbound on Norwood Street.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
