SPRING VALLEY, NY — A woman was stabbed in the eye on May 28, 2026, in the area of 53 Sneden Place West, according to the Spring Valley Police Department.
Police responded to the scene at approximately 10:30 a.m. following a report of a stabbing.
Responding officers found a woman suffering from a stab wound to her right eye requiring immediate medical assistance.
Spring Hill Ambulance arrived on scene and transported the woman to Westchester Medical Center.
Shortly after the incident, a description of the suspect was broadcast, and an alert patrol officer observed the man and was able to safely take him into custody.
Oniel James, 40, of Spring Valley, was charged with attempted assault with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon, a B-1 felony, assault in the second degree, a D-2 felony, and criminal possession of a weapon, an A misdemeanor.
James was arraigned before Judge Tenemil and was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
