Man arrested on burglary, stabbing charges in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly stabbing someone inside an apartment while a child was present.

On May 27, 2026, at approximately 10:28 p.m., two officers on patrol were flagged down in the area of the Gesner Drive apartment complex regarding a reported stabbing.

Officers quickly encountered the suspect, later identified as Malik Baptiste, 31, of Spring Valley.

Baptiste fled on foot, prompting a brief foot pursuit before officers successfully apprehended him.

The investigation revealed that Baptiste unlawfully entered a residence and stabbed a male guest inside the home in the presence of a child.

Baptiste also caused damage to several items within the residence.

The male stabbing victim refused to cooperate with law enforcement.

Baptiste was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Baptiste was arraigned before Judge Mellion in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court.

Bail was set at $50,000 cash, $75,000 bond or a $100,000 partially secured bond.

Baptiste was transported to the Rockland County Jail.
